Ribbon-tastic

At As You Like It Challenge this fortnight we're looking to see how you like adding ribbon to your creations. I love using ribbon to hide the join between two designer papers and adding a double bow to top it off.  The ribbon I've used on today's project is more 'Cadbury Purple' than it looks in the photo as the colour seems to be impossible to photograph.  Hopefully you can get the gist!

Surprise!

I've been seeing these little boxes pop up (geddit!) over blogland and decided to make my own. But instead of downloading a template I started from scratch and measured out something to fit a sheet of A4 card (there's nothing like making life hard for yourself!). Despite the frustrations and a waste bin full of attempts, I'm quite pleased with the final result.  I've used Gerda Steiner Moody Unicorns for the decoration of both the case and the box. When the box is pulled out, it pops open using an elastic band for tension, which stretches when you want to squash the box flat again for keeping inside the little sleeve.

Thank you for being you

I knew I had to get my paws on this little lady as soon as I saw her in the sneak peeks.  She's Sweet Pea from Stamping Bella and she was one of my immediate favourites from the last release.  I have teamed her with some pretty Maja Design papers which, by luck more than judgement, are the perfect match in shade without overpowering the image.  The card was for a very special friend for whom I think the sentiment was perfectly written. :0)

Happy Dance

I'm doing a little Happy Dance today with this cutie from Stamping Bella.  She comes in a pack of 2 images (a large and a smaller version) and the sentiment.  I stamped the smaller image on the insert to match the outside.

James Cheers

This is the Father's Day card that I made for my FIL featuring James the Bear.  I know it's cute, but hopefully still counts as sufficiently masculine!  I used a retired rubber stamp for my card but the image is now available as a digi stamp instead, so you can still get your paws on him.

Happy Father's Day

It's Father's day and I've got the first of the two cards I've made. Masculine cards are not my 'thing' but hopefully this is acceptable!  I've been playing with some of my Gerda Steiner rubber stamps this week, but this one is a digi.

You Did It

'Congratulations' are the order of the day with my final 'new release' sample card featuring 'You Did It' from Lili of the Valley.

It's also congratulations because I've added a couple of sequins for the first time ever on one of my cards (I think)!  I've had a huge pack of them for ages.  There must a thousand of them at least in the packet.  Although I've debated several times whether to use them or not, I've always previously chickened out.

6 used, 994 left to go.   :0)

Brainy Books

I've got another of my samples from the new Lili of the Valley release.

This one is called 'Brainy Books' and I think it is quite gender neutral.

Apart from the cuteness, purple accents and little pearls.

Ok, I'm probably pushing it on the masculine front here, but at least I've kept the design quite simple!

Berry Wryn

We're getting fruity at As You Like It Challenge this week and wanting to know what your favourite fruit is.  I've always loved strawberries; along with the yummy taste, they remind me of summer and picking them straight from the garden and eating them before they even make it back up to the house!

You're Koalafied for a Hug

I've been playing with a stamp set that I've had for a while but not used.  It's a Gerda Steiner set featuring some cute koala bears and matching sentiments.

Bedtime Stories

I'm so proud to be sharing my project with you today as a guest designer for Crealies.

I've been a fan of Crealies for a long time, especially the large nesting dies and box templates which make cute little gift boxes so easy to make.

But today, I'm sharing a card and matching bookmark tag made with a range of gorgeous products.

On my card I've used one of my favourite circle nesting dies which come in extremely generous sizes to suit all cards without squashing the space around the image.  I also love that it's got a pierced edge which gives it fantastic texture.

I've also used two 'on the edge' dies, one to shape the card base, and the other to create a banner for my ribbon strip.  Again both of these have stitched or pierced edges which give a fantastic finish to the die-cut edge.

I've used a beautiful layered flower die set which I've chalked to add more dimension and combined it with a large pearl in the centre.

The image is 'Bedtime Stories' from Lili of the Valley and I've also made a matching bookmark tag using my large Crealies tag die which also has pierced edge texture.  The tag is really large, and you can see it measured up against the card which, like most of my card bases, is 6x6.

Finally, I've used a fantastic background stamp from Crealies called 'stones' behind the teddy bear to make it look like he's propped up against a wall.  I masked the bear and stamped the bricks either side of him in a pale grey water-based ink. I then my paintbrush to give the stones some detail with some more ink afterwards.

I hope you like my project and thank you again to Annelies and Ingrid for the opportunity to showcase my card on the Crealies blog.

Believe in Fairies

Today's image is called I Believe in Fairies from Lili of the Valley.  I've used a lovely Crealies flower die set and popped a pearl star in the middle to match the stars in the image.

Following on my recent 'girlie' cards, today's card features more of a masculine image called 'Clever Clogs' from Lili of the Valley

Chanel the Chef

After yesterday's cake card, I've stayed on the theme with today's card.  I'm in CAS mode with my card but the image is quite big so it didn't leave much space for a lot of fuss.

Nancy Baker

In my opinion, however full I may feel, there is always room for cake and today we're looking to seek some yummy cake themed creations at In The Pink Challenge.  I've used my favourite CCD character, Nancy, in a cute little chef's outfit with a delicious looking chocolate cake with pink icing. The only thing that could be better is if I could grab a fork and dive right into that card!

Huggy Squigies

Woohoooo, I can finally post this card today, because it's included in the latest issue of Papercraft Essentials (issue 147) which was out last week.  All of the Dies to Die For team are promoting the lovely Stamping Bella images and I was really pleased to use this image called Huggy Squidgie which is really sweet and great for a 'friend' card.  I hope you like it, and if you get the mag, check out the DTDF DT cards on pages 55 to 58. :0)

I didn't have backing card in the right colour, so I used white, and edged it with the same pink ink pad that I'd used to ink the edges of the image and cardbase:  Once the image is mounted onto it, you can't see the white!

I'm Here For You

Today's card features 'I'm Here For You' from the new release at Lili of the Valley.  I've been rediscovering my old Lili paper pads too and this was one of my favourites, called Promises.  It's available from Nitwits as a digi though.

Make a Wish

It's another Lili of the Valley day for me with 'Make a Wish' from the new release.  The layout is very simple to focus on the image but I've added a large Crealies die cut flower with a pearl star in the middle to match the stars in the image.

Milkshake

I've got another of my Lili of the Valley samples this time using Milkshake. The bear reminds me of Winnie the Pooh so I've given his fur a yellowish tinge!  I've used a Crealies 'on the edge' die to create a fancy stitched and shaped edge on the card base.

Bridesmaids

I'm in wedding mode today using the new Bridesmaids image from Lili of the Valley.   It may not look like there was much colouring involved in this image, but it still seemed to take me ages!

Summer View

I'm showcasing some of the newly released images from Lili of the Valley over the next few weeks, and I'm starting with this one, which is an uber CAS card using Summer View.

This card has been sent as a 'just a note' card to a treasured friend, but it's actually a very versatile image suitable for many occasions.

Flurry

We're looking at our favourite card themes today at As You Like It Challenge, and my favourite reason to make cards is for Christmas because I love all the build up and it's a great excuse to use sparkle on your cards!  I've used one of my cute little Purple Onion Design stamps called Flurry for this CAS creation making him the focus of attention.
