Christmas Tree

Anyone would think it's less than 3 months until Christmas because I've got another festive make to share today.  It's Annabelle again with a seasonal red and green colour scheme.

Have a Bella Blue Christmas

Today's card features Bella the heffalump (and friend) in a frosty blue themed Christmas card.  The papers and dies are also Wild Rose Studio and I've layered each panel onto silver mirri card (although it looks black in the piccy).

Sweet as Sugar

Today's card is my first as a Sugar Bowl Sweetie and features lots of my favourite things.

I've used one of my favourite images 'A Little Bit of Gossip' from Funky Kits.  To be honest I love all their Fairy Glen images, but I have probably used this one more than most, so that must qualify as a favourite!

I've also used my current favourite papers from Maja Design, and a stitched circle stax die that I have become a little bit addicted to since buying!

This project supports the 'Anything Goes' challenge at The Sugar Bowl as well as our new 'favourite digi' challenge at As You Like It Challenge,  (Although for all you rubber fans, this little fairy was also produced in rubber, but is currently out of stock at Funky Kits)

Here's a little close up of my fairy which shows the sparkle on her wings a wee bit better...

Hanging Gifts

It's another festive Christmas day today with a card featuring Annabelle from Wild Rose Studio.  I've coloured the image to match the papers which are from the First Edition Nordic Christmas kit, and decorated it with a couple of die cuts in snow white card.

Giant Cake (and a smidgeon of pink)

Today's card is under direct instruction from Christine who requested I return to my roots with a pink and girlie card.  Well, as I said to Christine, I don't need asking twice in that department!

  • Pink - tick
  • Girlie papers - tick
  • Flowers - tick
  • Cute - tick
  • Pretty ribbon - tick
  • Bow - tick
  • Pearls - tick

So here's my pink and girlie card!  :0)

Frostbitten toes?

There's just over one more week to get in your entries for Squirrel's Great Penguin Challenge, so I'm here with another reminder to get you in the pingu mood.

I water-coloured Wryn from Tiddly Inks with DI reinkers, and cut her out using my stitched circle stax die, but the die seemed to move as it went through the BigShot, and clipped off Wryn's toe.  As well as giving Wryn some frostbitten tootsies, the slippage also created a bit more white space on the left than I'd originally intended, so I've used the additional space to add a large die cut sentiment in gold mirri card to match the gold on the papers.

Hopefully no one will notice her clipped toenails!

It's a man's world

It's a really quick post today as this is a card I meant to blog yesterday, but ran out of time.

I needed to make a masculine birthday card and I'm hopeless unless it's pink, glittery, and cute.

Preferably including a bear of some sort!!

That means that mens' cards pose something of a problem for me.

So, I opted to follow a simple sketch, and no image.

Nothing cute whatsoever.

Here's the result :

Snow Family

The theme this week at ABC Christmas Challenge is Something Festive (so that's effectively an 'anything goes' for a Xmas challenge!).

I've made a 2 layer card which is totally flat (great for mailing!!!).  I stamped and coloured my image onto white card, and die cut the top with a Frostyville border before sticking it directly onto a festive red card base.

The sentiment is a strip of text ribbon which is wrapped around the white layer and tucked under before it was stuck down.

Simples!

This is also my final challenge designing for the ABC Christmas Challenge.  I've been on this fabulous team since July 2012 but I'm in need of a change to rejuvenate my mojo.  I have had a wonderful time with a great bunch of designers.  Thanks for letting me play along for the last couple of years girls.  It's been a blast !

Geekin' It

Today's card is one of my favourites for a long time.  My favourite colours, beautiful Maja Design papers, a simple layout and I was quite pleased with my colouring (I've been practising 'blond' again!)

Blue Pingu

I'm just popping in today with a little reminder about The Great Penguin Challenge 2014 over on Squirrel's blog.  It's running until the end of this month and all you have to do is create a penguin themed project and link it up to the linky tool on her blog post.

I've used my favourite pingy stamp again, but this time in a frosty blue theme.  The papers are also from LOTV and I've finished it off with some snowflake dies and a strip of aqua and white ribbon.

Cute, huh?

Bluebell with Robin

I'm back in Christmas mode again with a lovely image of Bluebell and some Nitwit papers.  These papers are really great quality thick card so I tend to use them on square cards which are easier to cut to shape.

I've also used a summery die, but since it included birdies which seemed to match the robin, I hoped they were versatile enough for me to get away with it!  A snowflake die and a 'Merry Christmas' sentiment sealed the deal.

Embossed Flower Bear

The challenge at As You Like It Challenge this fortnight is to use your favourite rubber stamp.  I did have to think long and hard about this one, as I have lots of current favourites (some old, some new) but the reason I've chosen Posy trio from Lili of the Valley is because it's really versatile.  I've used it on cards, gifts and tags.

The little bears are lovely and quick to paint and you easily can fit all three onto a card base, or focus on just one as I've done here ...

... and they are the perfect size for my Doohickey Scalloped Tag die.  I cut around the metal die using a craft knife to create the coloured matted layers, and added some matching seam binding.

Red & White Christmas

It's another Wild Rose Studio hat-trick day today with image, papers and dies from their new releases.  I've added some rich red satin ribbon which brings out the red in the image, although I've tried to colour the image quite softly with my DI reinkers.

The Great P-P-P-Penguin Challenge

Welcome to The Great Penguin Challenge of 2014 !

I was recently asked by the lovely Squirrel if I fancied a spot of random penguin mania this weekend, and since I am rather fond of our tuxedo-wearing feathered friends, I jumped at the chance to take part in her bout of seasonal silliness!

So if you've been p-p-p-pondering the p-p-p-purpose of the cryptic clues on Squirrel's blog this week, we can now reveal that she is hosting a p-p-p-penguin themed challenge, and all you have to do to p-p-p-participate is make something featuring our black and white fish eating friends.

So if you fancy some flipper related excitement, and to be in with a chance of winning a p-p-p-prize that is decidedly fishy, you need to pop over to Squirrel's blog to link up your penguin creations before 6pm (UK time) on 30 September.

To get you in the mood, I've made a little card featuring my all-time favourite penguin image, Snow Cute from Lili of the Valley.

Many thanks to Squirrel for hosting this little bit of festive fun.  We hope you will join in.

Bella Birthday

I wouldn't say that yellow is a colour I would usually opt for, but it seemed to go quite well with the blues on the papers, so it inspired me to try it on an image.  I picked a fun birthday image of Bella on Presents and matched it with some gorgeous yellow satin ribbon.

Sparkle and Bling

I usually prefer pearls to rhinestones, but I've gone overboard with the gemstones on today's card!

The challenge at Crafty Little Fairies this month Sparkle and Bling so I've used rhinestones in the corner as well as along the scalloped base.  The sweet bunny image and pretty papers are both from Lili of the Valley, and the rich chocolate brown satin ribbon is less 'black' in real life!

Red Poinsettia

I don't usual make a card without a stamped image, but today's an exception.  It's an uber C&S card in a festive monochrome red.  I've also managed to christen my new Merry Christmas die from Simon Says Stamp.  Unfortunately I can't remember where I got the poinsettia die from.  :0(  but it's actually to support the challenge at ABC Christmas Challenge where the theme is R for Red Poinsettias.

The Secret Diary of Barry Bear

Hubby bought me a mini binding machine about a year ago, and after making the calendar project that I had been itching to make, it's been in the cupboard collecting dust since then.  So I decided to pull it out and put it to use for this fortnight's challenge at Top Tip Tuesday where the theme is Stationery.

I've designed and printed out a full year of a diary, with a week's view to each page and bound it all into a mini book using some mount-board covers (I had some leftover mount-board from making my clocks).  I did actually put design paper on the front and back, but then stamped over it with some floral mini stamps to match the colour theme of the image, so you can't see much of the design any more.

I also tied little strips of matching ribbon around the rings, but wasn't sure whether I liked them after I'd done them.  I did end up pulling them off, but they were on when I took the photos.

I designed the diary insert pages to fit four weeks on an standard A4 sized sheet of paper.  I chopped the printed sheets into quarters and that's the size of the diary.  I cut the mount board slightly larger to create the covers.

This is also my final challenge designing for Top Tip Tuesday.  I've been on this fabulous team since June 2011 and have had a wonderful time with a great bunch of designers and our lovely leading lady, Samantha.  But I've been feeling in a bit of a rut for the past couple of months and decided I need to inject some change in order to get my mojo back.  I am addicted to crafting.  It's a much needed 'release' from a stressful day job so over the next month I'm stepping back from four of my longest running teams, hoping that will free up some time to enable me to go in search of my missing mojo by trying some new creative challenges.

Frosty Penguin

The pretty papers inspired the colour theme of today's festive card, featuring again a hat-trick of Wild Rose Studio stash.  The image is Girl and Penguin, the papers are Frosted Lace and the dies are Holly Flourish and Frosty Corner.
